The Mandalorian Darksaber: Facts and History

The Mandalorian Darksaber: Facts and History | Reflekt Sabers™

Mandalorian Season 1 introduced a weapon with a significant legacy in Star Wars. In the Season 1 finale, the Darksaber was returned to Moff Gideon. Season 2 introduced one of the Darksaber's former owners in the form of Katee Sackhoff's Bo-Katan Kryze.

The Darksaber is now in Mando's hands after Mandalorian Season 2 finale. It is safe to assume that this blade will continue to be a significant part of the series and spinoffs such as The Book of Boba Fett.

Don't be confused if you aren't sure why everyone seems so obsessed with a black lightsaber.

This article will explain everything you need about the Mandalorian Darksaber and how it connects the series to Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

What Actually the Darksaber is?

Tarre Vizsla was the first Mandalorian Jedi to forge the Darksaber, which is unique in its design. It was created a thousand years before the Star Wars events took place.

Although no one can explain why Vizsla's sword is so special, its square-ish hilt and black colour are just a few of the reasons.

It can channel powerful energies depending on the emotions of its wielder, which is an unusual property in a lightsaber.

The Jedi kept their saber after Tarre Vizsla died. The Mandalorians and Jedi then went to war against one another. As part of his description of their historical enemy, The Armorer describes "wizards named Jedi" in The Mandalorian Finale.

House Vizsla members (Mandalorian Houses look a lot like Game of Thrones homes) took the Darksaber from the Jedi and used it to kill them. With its power, they ruled the House of Mandalore.

The Darksaber was a subject of further conflict throughout its history.

The Darksaber, however, became a universal emblem of Mandalorian pride and authority, and this is of paramount importance.

The Origins

Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith makes up the Clone Wars animated series. It's known to those who have seen The Clone Wars will be familiar with the Darksaber's first appearance in the second episode of the Mandalore Plot.

A Mandalorian terrorist group led by Pre Vizsla owned the weapon.

The Darksaber, created for the show by George Lucas, was meant to be as powerful as any lightsaber.

According to Dave Filoni, a key creative figure, the Darksaber should also have significance for the Mandalorians. This simple idea led to the creation of Tarre Vizsla.

Tarre Vizsla created a black-bladed lightsaber, the first Mandalorian initiated into the Jedi Order. House Vizsla used this weapon long after his death to symbolise their leadership over Mandalore.

The Clone Wars

The blade remained with House Vizsla through the turbulent days of the Clone Wars. Pre Vizsla rebelled against the pacifist rule of Mandalore by Duchess Satine and brandished the blade at Obi-Wan Kenobi and Maul as part of his efforts to restore the planet's warrior roots.

Obi-Wan laughed and said, "This lightsaber was taken from your Jedi Temple by my ancestors in the fall of the Old Republic." "Since then, many Jedi have fallen upon its blade."

In "Shades of Reason," an episode of The Clone Wars, Maul kills Pre Vizsla. Maul declared, "I claim this sword," and his rightful place in the leadership.

The former Sith used the Darksaber to accomplish his darkest purposes, including the murder of Obi-Wan Kenobi's favourite person.

Maul also used it against his master when Darth Sidious went to Mandalore to thwart him. Later, he crossed swords with General Grievous and Mace Windu during the comic series Darth Maul, Son of Dathomir.

Sound

The Darksaber's sound has a shrill tone than other series. The Mandalorian Darksaber sound changes depending on how emotional its owner is.

This unique sound confirms that the blade was made in a different period than other lightsabers seen in films.

Appearance

The sword will ignite, and a flat, curved blade, like a Katana, emerges from its hilt. Although it appears shorter than a regular lightsaber, it is technically not shoto.

The blade's dark energy and black colour are offset by a white glow effect which highlights the edges of the sword.

The Mandalorian Darksaber unique hilt design is also unique in Star Wars. The hilt is not circular but rectangular and geometrical.

The handle's upper half has a narrow slot for the blade's emitter and a small cross guard to protect users' hands from the deadly weapon.

Rebels

After Revenge of the Sith and before A New Hope, Star Wars Rebels begins. Maul still had the Darksaber in his possession. His home planet, Dathomir, kept it.

Jedi survivor Kanan Jarrus trained Sabine. She became an expert with blades.

Because she was a Clan Wren member, House Vizsla, her natural claim to ownership gave rise to her genuine claim. After she defeated Gar Saxon, Imperial Governor, in a duel, her claim was undisputed.

Sabine was the rightful owner of the lightsaber, but she gave it to Bo-Katan, the former ruler's sister. Bo-Katan became the leader of Mandalore.

Behind-The-Scenes

It was originally intended for Pre-Vizsla to use a vibroblade as a weapon, but George Lucas requested that it be modified to be used for combat.

The creative team transformed the blade into an archaic, black-bladed lightsaber called the Darksaber.

On January 29, 2010, Star Wars: The Clone Wars aired "The Mandalore Plot," featuring the Darksaber for the first time.

Sam Witwer, a Star Wars Show interviewee, explained that Solo: A Star Wars Story initially intended to reintroduce Maul's original lightsaber in Qi'ra's scene.

Witwer suggested either his Rebels lightsaber or the Darksaber. In the end, the latter was selected.

The Mandalore Consider The Darksaber A Significant Symbol.

In Mandalore culture, the Darksaber was an important symbol. One of the most powerful clans on the Mandalorian Planet, Clan Vizsla, the owner of the Darksaber, became the clan's leader. Only by defeating the previous owner could one become the Darksaber master.

Following Obi-Wan Kenobi's cut to Darth Maul (the villain in Phantom Menace, an apprentice under Palpatine), Pre Vizsla and other clan members helped rescue him. (Maul survived by using the Force.

Pre-Vizsla was disappointed that Maul wanted the Darksaber, and the two eventually duelled. Maul snatched Pre Vizsla's Darksaber and split Mandalorians about whether to obey him or a Mandalore leader. On the planet, civil war broke out.

Last Words

Even though the Darksaber's past is filled with violence, betrayal, and murder, Mandalore and its citizens may never regain their original strength without it as a symbol.

There are expectations that the story of the Mandalorian Darksaber will continue in the Mandalorian Season 3.
